Penn international baitcasing reels are solidly built and yet the entire range is incredibly lightweight and what makes it even better is that it is designed with big fish in mind.The Penn International 975LD will quite simply catch anything from small fish to king mackeral and sharks and wont have a problem at all. These reels are held in high regard amonst many anglers due to the high quality build. It is an incredibly smooth reel and casting with it is very eas, and the powerful level drag and levelwind make it ideal for light tackle trolling.
The frame is one piece aluminium which of course means it is tough while not having to carry extra weight. The sideplates are silky smooth forged aluminium and have a gold finish. The gears are also very tough being machined stainless steel. The handle is a soft paddle grip but you also have the choice of using a a soft grib double if you need too.
The centrifugal casting works extremely well and you can get some great distances from this reel while it remains smooth and effortless. The reel also has 2 aircraft grade stainless steel bearing and a third one way roller bearing which gives it an overall smoothness which is comparable to even the top end reels. The anti-reverse roller bearing helps getting rock solid hook sets and there is no kick back whatsoever.
